Excuses Are Like You-Know-What
You've heard of the somewhat off-color axiom, right? About excuses being like a certain anatomical part, because everyone's got one and they all... right, you've heard it.
Now, there's certainly a difference between excuses and legitimate reasons. The trouble comes when the former masquerades as the latter, and prevents the action necessary to achieve a goal. The following are a few "reasons" for not pursuing your goals that may, in fact, simply be excuses.
"I don't have the time."
First, how much time do you really need to start your SMC business? A few hours a week? Do you REALLY not have a few hours a week? Hmmm... Think you could shake some time loose by cutting your lunch hours in half, or eliminating TV for a while?
"I can't make enough money to make it worth the trouble."
No business starts out by earning its top potential. A business grows, and by definition, if you're going to grow, you've got to start small. One thing's certain: if you don't start, your business will definitely not make enough money, ever. Verdict: Excuse.
"I don't know how to do it."
So learn! There are so many resources available to anyone that wants to learn anything these days, and for SMC Members that's especially true. Between the manuals, the training DVD, Success central, Coaching, these newsletters, and the monthly Specialty Wholesaler, you've got plenty of information and step-by-step guidance. "I don't know how" isn't a reason, it's just laziness.
If you've been giving yourself a "reason" to quit, or to avoid starting, take an objective look and be honest with yourself. Is it really just an excuse?
